So you think you want a steel bike….

So you have decided you want to stand out from the crowd and have a hand-built steel bike, how do you go about getting your hands on one?

First off you need to decide just what sort of bike you want and type of materials and construction you’d prefer. Will it be a bike for a sunny Sunday ride to the cafe or a full on touring bike? Maybe you would like to race steel or do that long distance Audax or sportive?

Once you have an idea of what sort of bike you want, then drop me an email or give me a call so we can arrange for you to drop by the workshop to discuss your options. We can then refine your ideas and I will advise you on what will, or won’t work and the materials that would be best suited to your riding, components etc. I can also put you in touch with a bike fitting service to get you measured and fitted so we can be sure your new bike will fit you perfectly.

Once we have decided on the details, I will then prepare you a detailed quote and an approximate completion date. If you are happy to proceed, then at this point I will require a deposit (usually £500 but can be more depending on materials used). The deposit will then secure your place on the waiting list. If you want me to source the components (groupset, wheels, bars & stem etc.) then I will need this paid in full up-front. You can also source your own components but I will require these before I start your build so we can be sure everything fits perfectly.

Whilst I am building your frame, this will be a good time for you to start thinking about the paintwork and what color and design you want; with literally thousands of colors to choose from you may be a little spoilt for choice!

Once your frame is built and painted, I will assemble the bike and set up your riding position so all that is left for you to do is to go out and enjoy your ride.
